Even if a vendor or in-house system runs your payroll, you need to understand gross pay, taxable gross, pre- and post-tax deductions and order of precedence to check the results. This 60-minute payroll calculation training walks through each step.
You'll calculate base-to-gross wages for several scenarios, including employees with different hourly rates for different jobs, blended rates and the regular rate of pay. You'll see why an employee earning $1,000 a period may have a taxable gross of $920, and how state rules on pre-tax deductions change the answer.
The session then covers gross-to-net, voluntary and scheduled deductions and their limits, supplemental rates, and federal withholding using the current Form W-4 and Publication 15-T.
WHY SHOULD YOU ATTEND?
The rules on taxable, non-taxable and pre-tax earnings and deductions are hard to follow, and errors frustrate employees. Knowing how to calculate pay lets your team verify vendor results and answer employee questions.
This session suits payroll associates and supervisors, even those with only a few hourly workers.
